Imagine a life where everything is smooth sailing; no bumps, no hiccups and no road blocks. Life would be extremely boring, don’t you think? Not to mention, I feel we’d lose a huge chunk of our creative thinking capacity and problem solving skills as a race, and maybe even some of our appreciation; it would be difficult to appreciate a fantastic day when you’ve never had a bad one.
Thankfully – though, it may not seem it at the time – we do have some not-so-grand days to keep us balanced and grounded. But, let’s be honest, we want those days to turn around as quickly as possible so we can get back to smiling.

I could get all scientific about this, but I won’t. We all know how quickly our mood can change with the right song choice. And it seems like the louder, the better! What genre of music makes me the happiest? Soca!! If you’re unfamiliar with Soca, it’s a type of music that is popular in the Caribbean and it’s pretty much based around partying, dancing and having a very care-free time (it's usually talking about Carnival season when people dance and drink along the streets) Check out these songs on YouTube by my favourite Soca artist, Machel Montano. Speaking of YouTube, this amazing little site can have so much power over one’s day! If you’re feeling rather gloomy, search for some funny videos! Check out some of these chuckle-worthy YouTube video’s to get you smiling:

3. Call A Social Friend
Sometimes, all it takes is a 30 minute phone call or a short coffee break with the right person to completely change your day. When you’re feeling down or stressed, reach out to that friend who always makes you laugh, is never judgmental and truly wants to see you smile. He/She will naturally know want to say or do to improve your seemingly crappy day.
Bach Flower Remedies is a line of well-respected flower essences that are used to address emotional imbalances. I know it sounds strange, but these essences are actually quite powerful! The Bach Rescue Remedy line is one I’ve personally used when I was facing some crazy hormonal imbalances – I found the drops to be quite effective! 5. Hit The Sack Early
After a long day – with more hurdles than you would have preferred – sometimes the best solution is simply sleep. Hitting the sack early and sleeping away your troubles can often be just what you need in order to wake up feeling refreshed and renewed.
