Yesterday, I visited the Diamond Botanical Garden's of St. Lucia . What a wonderfully tranquil place! I had a tour of their gorgeous gardens, took a dip in their natural mineral baths, visited the amazing Diamond Waterfall and went on a short nature hike. All of this was before I enjoyed a delicious local lunch at their Old Mill restaurant. It was a great day!
One of the things that stood out to me about my adventure - aside from a glass of their delicious Rum Punch - was the flora and fauna. Obviously, after living here for almost nine months, I know how stunning St. Lucia is as an island, but the shrubbery and trees had me awe-struck for a different reason.
I began thinking to myself that this is exactly how we should try to live our lives. Like this brilliant species, we humans should approach adversity with the same will. When there's a problem, disaster, challenge or a tragedy we need to remember that although we are just as delicate, we are also just as strong as everything else existing in nature. We have the ability to adapt and we have the ability to overcome, we just have to tap into ourselves and believe in our capabilities.
Just like the plants, flowers, trees and shrubs of nature, we’re often faced with barriers and challenges that test us. Whether or not we CAN overcome them is not the question, it's whether or not we BELIEVE in ourselves enough to actually do it. Find that sense of empowerment and you'll find the way to triumph.
